Android Phone App Recommendation

Add a twilight red screen filter to your phone.

Have you ever wanted to use your smart phone out in the field, in the dark – perhaps as a navigational aid to get to your stand – but didn’t want to mess up your night vision? Try the Twilight app for Android phones, which allows you to change your Android device’s screen to use red tones. Its original purpose is to avoid bright screens before bed. But, similar to using a red flash light, it should work just as well for hunters or others that want to avoid losing their night vision while using their device in the dark.

Sadly, we were unable to find an equivalent app for the iPhone.  If you know of one, let us know and we’ll share it with everyone in the next newsletter!

FEATURED BCL LEASE: Oklahoma’s Latimer County

Property #: 6208
Acres: 430     Max Hunters: 6
Certified Check Price: $6500/ Credit Card Price: $6825
Here’s a solid 430 acre southeastern Oklahoma lease in Latimer County. This lease is comprised of 80-90% timber with several CRP clearings. There is a nice pond stocked with fish that should also provide some great waterfowl hunting. During inspection, acorns were seen on the ground with deer and turkey sign everywhere. This place is very thick, hilly and will hunt a lot bigger than most 430 acre farms. This county has produced some giant deer in the past. With deer hunting, fishing, turkey, waterfowl and an occasional wild hog, this property will make a great year round lease. Deer season is just around the corner…lock this place in so you can start getting things set up!! There are no cattle on this property and there is a well site that you could probably put a camper on. There is also an RV park about a mile east of this lease.  MORE INFO

FEATURED LEASING AGENT: Iowa’s Brian Chancellor

Iowa leasing agent Brian Chancellor grew up hunting in the mountains of West Virginia. It didn’t take long before he was addicted to chasing mature whitetails. Hunting mature whitetails in Ohio fueled that addiction and lead Brian to Battle Creek, Iowa, where he currently resides with his wife Abby and two sons, Landon and Layne.
Everything he does in his spare time revolves around the whitetail deer! It is a 365 day a year obsession. If he’s not hunting, he’s scouting, planning, or preparing for that next hunt. He has been involved with several leases throughout the Midwest and knows what it takes to grow and harvest a mature whitetail on Iowa land for lease.
What makes Iowa a great place to hunt?
With an unmatched number of food sources and some of the best genetics found anywhere, the state of Iowa is one of the highest producers of world class deer in the country. Not only does the state manage the deer herd in Iowa, but the residents of this state participate heavily in quality deer management as well.
This state does operate on a draw system, but Iowa offers several options for deer hunters looking to harvest one of these Midwest giants. The early archery season begins the first of October and runs to the end of November. It then picks up again in the late season before closing near the middle of January. This allows bow hunters to hunt every phase of the rut without the interference of a firearms season during the peak of the rut. This is what makes Iowa the favorite destination for many bow hunters. For firearms hunters there are several options as well. For more information on hunting seasons and how to apply for a non-resident hunting permit, go to
www.iowadnr.gov.
Please contact Brian with any questions you may have about Iowa hunting leases.  Brian can be reached at (740) 525-2407 via phone call or text message.
