Hunting Land for Lease Details: 265 acres in Ontario County, New York located in DMU 8J. Getting two doe permits in this area won’t be a problem for residents or non-residents. For those seeking trophy bucks, Ontario County is the place to be. The property has 100 acres of woods surrounded by corn, alfalfa and soybeans. Timber is mostly mid level hardwoods, many white and red oaks are present. The terrain is flat, making the property easy to navigate.  The Leasing Agent’s family farm is not far from this lease.  Many area landowners manage grounds for quality deer. Photos are included of the deer harvested on Leasing Agent’s place last year, along with photos of some survivors to give you an idea of what you can expect to see if you let them grow. Landowner reported that a 10pt and 11pt were harvested last year on this farm. The turkey population on this parcel is solid; spring gobbler hunting will be a blast. The cut cornfields are frequented by thousands of Snow Geese and Canada Geese. Decoying geese will be fantastic! Their vast numbers have caused significant damage to crops in the area. Spring Snow Goose limits are very liberal and electronic calls are legal. Landowner request that decoy spreads not damage crop fields / new seeding. If in doubt, please consult with landowner before deploying decoys. Respectful ATV use will be allowed for game recovery. There is a well established roadway through the center of the property. This is an absolutely gorgeous farm. Get this property locked in before hunting season.MORE INFO.
E. Ohio & W. Pennsylvania Agent DOUG PETRO

Doug Petro is a native of southwestern Pennsylvania and a life long hunter and conservationist. He earned a degree from Penn State University in Environmental Resource Management and worked for the New Jersey Dept. of Environmental Protection regulating the application of bio-solids to farmland. Doug was involved in several hunting clubs and land leases in New Jersey where hunting land is very scarce and clubs and leasing are very popular.

Six years ago Doug moved back to southwestern Pennsylvania and became manager of the Fayette County Conservation District. Doug works with farmers on a daily basis, assisting them with various conservation practices from nutrient management, erosion control, contour and strip cropping, no-till planting, wildlife habitat improvement and water quality protection. Doug works hard to not only help the environment, but also to improve the viability and sustainability of the small family farms in Pennsylvania.

Doug hunts “nearly every free minute for just about anything that crawls, flies, or runs.” This includes groundhogs, doves, geese, ducks, grouse, pheasants, turkeys and deer, bow hunting big deer and spring turkey are his favorite. With his commitment to sustainable agriculture and his years of hunting experience, Doug feels that bringing farmers and hunters together is a win-win situation for both parties. Doug lives on a small farm with his wife, twin daughters and two aging bird dogs.
